Can Capi In Home Dog Stays

Home dog boarding in Barcelona. Your dog stays in a real family home, cared for by a veterinarian and ethologist, alongside our own dog and never more than five guests at a time.

Every dog belongs
in a family home

Our Story

Can Capi was born from a simple idea. We know what it feels like to pack a suitcase and feel that pinch of guilt when you look at your dog. Life, travel and work sometimes mean you have to leave, but that shouldn’t mean your dog has to give up sleeping in a real home, with real people, and a real routine.

At Can Capi, dogs don’t check into a kennel. They move into a home. They share space with a family, not rows of cages. There’s a sofa, not a cold floor. A calm corner to nap, not fluorescent lights. Walks, cuddles, playtime and rest are woven into the day the way they would be with you.

We host only a small number of dogs at a time so each one can be seen, understood and cared for as an individual. Our purpose is to give dogs a second family when their own needs to travel, and to give you peace of mind knowing your best friend is safe, loved, and at home.

Can Capi exists for all those moments when you can’t be there.
So your dog still belongs where they always should, at home.

How it works

We don't just take any dog.
We make sure yours
feels at home first.

Before your dog ever spends a night with us, we get to know each other. Not as a test, as an introduction. Here’s how the first conversation becomes the first stay.

01

Discovery call

A relaxed first conversation by phone or WhatsApp. Tell us about your dog: their personality, their routine, their quirks, their favorite things. We’ll tell you about us, our home, and how we work. No commitment, just a chance to see if we’re the right fit.

02

Meet & greet

Your dog comes to visit. They meet Capi, our family, and the space they’d be staying in. Daniela observes how they settle, how they interact, and how they feel. This is where most of the magic happens, dogs tell us everything if we know how to listen.

03

Trial stay

Before any longer booking, we recommend a short stay of one or two days. This lets your dog experience the full rhythm of our home, meals, walks, naps, playtime, and lets us confirm everyone is comfortable. You travel knowing the first night is never the unknown one.

04

Welcome to the family

From here, your dog has a second home. Future stays are easier to book, and you’ll get updates throughout, photos, videos, the small moments that matter. They’re not a guest anymore. They’re part of the pack.

Most boarding services start with a booking form.
We start with a conversation.
That’s the difference.

What we offer

Four ways we care
for your dog.

Whether you’re traveling for two weeks or working long days, every service is built around the same idea: your dog deserves a real home, not a holding space.

Boarding

Overnight stays in our home.

For when you travel and want your dog to wake up on a sofa, not in a kennel. Your dog joins our family rhythm, meals, walks, naps, evenings on the couch. We host a maximum of five dogs at a time, so each one gets the attention they’d get at home.

Best for: trips, weekends away, longer holidays.

Daycare

Day visits while you work or step out.

Long workdays, back-to-back meetings, a day with no time to walk them properly. Drop your dog off in the morning and pick them up tired, fed, and happy. Same family, same home, just without the overnight.

Best for: busy workdays, recovery from surgery, dogs who get anxious alone.

Walks

Individual or small-group walks across Barcelona.

Walks designed around your dog’s energy and personality, not a one-size-fits-all loop around the block. We keep groups small and pair dogs by temperament, never just by schedule.

Best for: daily exercise, dogs new to the city, owners with limited time.

Behavioral consultations

One-on-one sessions with Daniela.

Reactivity, anxiety, fears, recent rescues, life transitions. Daniela brings over a decade as a veterinarian, a Master’s in Ethology, and a background in behavioral therapy and holistic medicine to help you understand what your dog is telling you, and what to do next.

Best for: behavioral challenges, newly adopted dogs, dogs adjusting to a new home or routine.

Not sure which one fits? Send us a message,
we’ll figure it out together.

The care behind it

Your dog isn't just being watched.
Your dog is being understood.

Most boarding services hire dog lovers. We’re a family that happens to include an experienced veterinary ethologist. That changes everything about how your dog is cared for.

Meet Daniela

Daniela has spent over a decade as a practicing veterinarian, with a Master’s in Ethology and specialized training in behavioral therapy and holistic medicine. Her work has always been shaped by the same question: what is this animal trying to tell us, and how do we respond with care?

That question shapes every stay at Can Capi. Why one dog needs more decompression time before joining the group. Why another settles instantly. When a behavior is stress and when it’s just personality. What food, rest, or movement a particular dog needs to feel like themselves.

It’s the kind of attention you’d expect from your own vet, running quietly in the background, every hour your dog is with us.

“A dog's wellbeing isn't just about being fed and walked. It's about feeling safe enough to be themselves. That's what we protect, every day, in our home.”

— Daniela, DVM · MSc Ethology

Professional expertise. Family warmth. Both, always.
Because your dog deserves nothing less.

Neither should real care.

Questions we hear often

Good to know
before you message us

If it’s not here, just ask us on WhatsApp, we reply to every message ourselves.

What does my dog need to stay with you?

We ask that every dog joining Can Capi has up-to-date vaccinations and parasite protection, is comfortable and sociable around other dogs, and completes a short meet & greet with Daniela before their first stay. This isn’t bureaucracy — it’s how we protect every dog in our home, including yours.

Due to Catalan regulations and the small-group, home-integrated nature of our care, we’re currently unable to host breeds classified as «potentially dangerous» (PPP) under Spanish law. This is a regulatory and logistical limitation, not a judgment on temperament (we love these dogs deeply). We’re happy to recommend trusted alternatives if this applies to your dog.

You’ll receive photo and video updates throughout the stay. We share the real moments, naps on the sofa, walks, playtime with Capi (not staged shots). Most owners tell us the updates are the highlight of their trip.

Yes, always. In fact, we require it. Every dog comes for a meet & greet visit before their first stay, and many owners visit first on their own to see the home and ask questions. Our full process has four steps, designed exactly so no one (you or your dog) feels like strangers on day one.

Daniela is a practicing veterinarian with over a decade of experience, including holistic and behavioral care. We’re comfortable with medication schedules, senior dogs, recent surgeries, dietary restrictions, and dogs adjusting to new environments. Tell us everything, the more we know, the better we care.

We’re based in Barcelona. For the safety of the dogs in our care and the privacy of our family, we share our exact address only after booking confirmation. We know this is unusual, it’s part of how we keep Can Capi a calm, controlled home rather than a facility with public traffic.

For boarding during Spanish holidays (Christmas, Easter, August), we recommend booking 2–3 months ahead. For other periods, 2–3 weeks is usually enough. For daycare and walks, we can often accommodate same-week requests depending on capacity. Either way, the first step is the same, message us and we’ll find a way.

Yes. Our entire family is fluent in Catalan, English and Spanish, and we’re comfortable communicating in either language throughout the stay. We know how much it matters to talk about your dog in the language where you feel most yourself.

Let’s talk

Tell us about
your dog

Every stay at Can Capi starts with a conversation, not a form, not a calendar. Just a message to get to know each other. Tell us who your dog is, when you’re traveling, and anything you’d like us to know. We’ll take it from there.

Send us a message

We read every message personally. You’ll hear back from us. Usually within 24 hours.

Whatever you write, whenever you write, we’ll reply as ourselves, not as a brand. That’s how Can Capi works.
